BABY FEVER

It's amazing how quickly we forget about morning sickness, nights of uncomfortable sleep with the ever expanding belly, and the pains of actual labor. It's all washed away when that little bundle of joy makes his/her appearance for the first time. Just when you think your life is complete, you leave the hospital and head home to do it all yourself. You wonder, "HOW WILL I DO IT?" The truth is somehow you do, you cope through the midnight feedings, the sleepless nights, the crying that breaks your heart when you have no idea what could be wrong, somehow, you make it!
Then one day, you wake up and realize that little bundle of joy is sitting at the kitchen table with you, throwing the place mats on the floor saying, "no, no", and dancing along (guitar in hand) with the "Imagination Movers" on Disney. You realize, they are no longer babies, they are little people.
I realized last night just how much I miss my sweet baby boy. Jack told me he was ready for "nite nite", ushered me to his room and lead me through his bedtime routine. Although, I knew it was too early, I obliged and placed him in his crib. Not surprising, he cried out for me less than 5 minutes later. When I reached his room he was pointing toward his music saying, "ock, ock". As his mother, I thought I should know immediately what he wanted, but I was puzzled. Finally, I realized he was saying, "ROCK", and actually pointing at the rocking chair. We haven't rocked in the chair for quite some time as part of his routine, but I enjoyed every second of cradling him and rocking him until he feel asleep. At that moment, I was anxious once again for the morning sickness, the sleepless nights, the labor pains, the midnight feedings, etc. I was anxious to love that little bundle of joy once again. I guess that's what they call BABY FEVER!

Friends

It's interesting, the whole "friendship thing". From an early age we are taught, or we somehow learn, that our "best friends" are those we do EVERYTHING with, those we tell EVERYTHING to, and those who know EVERYTHING about us. For so many years I measured my level of friendship with those close to me by these factors. Finally, at my old age, it's interesting to think about my best friends now, and almost funny to think back to the days that I had friendship so twisted!

I can pick up the phone, after weeks or even months without talking to them and we can pick up right where we left off. I can tell them exactly what I think, without having to sugar coat my feelings. I can end the call by saying I Love You, and truly mean it! Friendship today is something I cherish, something so special, and something I am so very grateful for.
To all of you friends out there, thank you for being such a big part of my life, and thank you for being there while I figured the whole "friendship thing" out! :)

Getting started....

I decided to breakdown and start my first blog. I've thought about getting started with blogging for some time now, but never actually sat down to do it. I kept making excuses about not being creative enough, or skilled enough, or smart enough to write intelligently enough to keep anyone interested. Now that I've moved beyond the fear of starting something new, I'm excited to see what all I can do with this blog, and about all the things I can share with family, friends, and strangers alike.

So for those of you who actually find your way to my blog, "WELCOME". I hope you'll enjoy the photos I have to share, the stories I have to tell, and the mindless ramblings that allow me to vent.
